What is a Torus?

In geometry, a torus (plural tori, also known as a donut or doughnut) is a surface of revolution generated by revolving a circle in three-dimensional space about an axis that is coplanar with the circle. If the axis of revolution does not touch the circle, the surface has a ring shape and is called a torus of revolution.

The volume of a torus is calculated using the formula: $$V = 2\pi^2 R r^2$$, where:

  • R is the major radius (the distance from the center of the torus to the center of the revolved circle).
  • r is the minor radius (the radius of the revolved circle).

This calculator helps you quickly find the volume of a torus by simply inputting the major and minor radii. Use it for educational purposes, design calculations, or just for fun!
