What Is Ohm’s Law?

Ohm’s Law states that the electric current (I) flowing through a conductor between two points is directly proportional to the voltage (V) across the two points and inversely proportional to the resistance (R).

The Core Formulas

  • Voltage (V): V = I × R (Volts)
  • Current (I): I = V ÷ R (Amperes)
  • Resistance (R): R = V ÷ I (Ohms, Ω)
  • Power (P): P = V × I = I² × R (Watts)
